What to Do When Amazon Flags Your Insurance
A rejected certificate or an insurance warning in Seller Central feels urgent, and usually the fix is specific. Here is how to read the flag, correct the cause and resubmit once.
Where the flag shows up
Amazon raises insurance problems in a few places. The Business Insurance page under Settings and Account Info shows the status of your last upload and, after a rejection, the reason. Amazon also sends email, and an account that has passed the sales trigger without proof can show a warning in Account Health. From November 2, 2026, sellers with products in enhanced safety categories receive their own notice, whatever their sales.
Start by copying the exact rejection text into a note with the date. Amazon’s messages are short but specific, and the wording points straight at the fix. A seller who says only that the certificate was rejected sends the agency hunting, while one who forwards the sentence gets the right document back.
Match the reason to the fix
Amazon is not named as additional insured. This is the message we see most often from the hundreds of Amazon sellers we work with. The cure is an endorsement on the policy naming Amazon.com Services LLC and its affiliates and assignees, followed by a new certificate that shows it. Listing Amazon as certificate holder alone keeps producing the same rejection.
The insurer name does not match. Seller Central asks for the Name of Insurer, and Amazon compares it with the insurer on the certificate. The agency or producer at the top of the form is a different entry. Type the insurer exactly as the certificate prints it and resubmit.
Names, limits or dates. A named insured that differs from the legal entity on the account, limits under $1,000,000 per occurrence or aggregate, a claims-made form outside the allowed categories, or a policy that starts after the upload date each need a change at the source. Our Amazon certificate of insurance page shows where each of these sits on a sample form.
Getting the right document from the issuer
Send the agency or insurer three things together: Amazon’s rejection sentence, a screenshot of the legal entity name in Seller Central, and the full list of Amazon’s terms. Ask for a revised certificate and a copy of the additional insured endorsement page. The endorsement is the piece most often missing, and having it on hand answers the next question before Amazon asks it.
When the gap is in the policy itself, such as a limit below Amazon’s figure or a product line left off the application, the certificate cannot be corrected until the policy is. Ask for the change to the policy first, then for the certificate. If your current insurer cannot meet a term, that is the point to quote elsewhere rather than resubmit.
Resubmitting without starting a loop
Upload the corrected certificate once, with every field in Seller Central checked against the file. Re-uploading the same document after a rejection, or last year’s certificate with only the dates changed, tends to return the same answer and adds days to the clock. Save a screenshot of each submission with its date.
If a correct certificate is still rejected, open a case through Seller Support, quote the rejection text and attach the certificate and endorsement page. Keep the case number in every follow-up. Sellers on Amazon’s forums report that their cases moved once they reached the team that reviews insurance documents, so a clear, complete case is worth the extra minute it takes to assemble.
When the flag is a deadline
Sometimes the notice is about missing coverage rather than a faulty certificate. Under the sales trigger, a seller has 30 days after passing $10,000 in monthly gross proceeds on Amazon.com. For the enhanced safety categories that start November 2, 2026, trade press reports a 45-day window after Amazon’s email, after which listings in those categories can be deactivated.
In both cases, coverage comes first and paperwork second. Bring the notice, the legal entity name and the product list to the quote so the policy is written to Amazon’s terms from the start. The Amazon seller insurance requirements page lists every term in one place.
Mainland China sellers and the Accelerator
From November 2, 2026, Amazon rejects newly submitted policies from Mainland China-based sellers that were not bought through the Amazon Insurance Accelerator. A qualifying outside policy uploaded before that date stays on file until it expires. Sellers in this position who receive a rejection after November 2 are seeing the new rule rather than a fault in the certificate.
We help China sellers who operate through a US company. Sellers without a US company buy their new policies through the Accelerator in Seller Central.
For a seller that does trade through a US company, the starting point matches any other quote: the products, US sales, where the goods ship from and the legal entity on the account. Have the US company’s registration and address ready, because the policy and the certificate are written in that company’s name and must match Seller Central.
Keeping the next flag away
Most repeat flags come from changes the policy never heard about. Update the agency when the legal entity name or address on the seller account changes, when you add a product line in an enhanced safety category, or when you start selling on another marketplace. Each of those changes the paperwork Amazon reads.
Set a renewal reminder 45 days before the expiration date, ahead of Amazon’s own 30-day email, and ask for the renewal certificate early. Our Amazon seller insurance hub has guides by category, country and marketplace for the questions that come next.
A few useful answers
Common questions
Why does Amazon keep rejecting the same certificate?
Usually because the cause sits in the policy, not the page. If the endorsement naming Amazon is missing or the insured name differs from the seller account, every upload of that certificate fails until the issuer corrects the source.
Will Amazon deactivate my listings over insurance?
For the enhanced safety categories that start November 2, 2026, trade press reports that listings in those categories can be deactivated after a 45-day window. Act on the first notice rather than the last.
Who do I contact when a correct certificate is rejected?
Open a case through Seller Support with the rejection text, the certificate and the endorsement page attached, and keep the case number for every follow-up.
Is a rejection after November 2 different for China-based sellers?
Yes. Amazon now rejects new policies from Mainland China-based sellers that were not bought through the Amazon Insurance Accelerator. Sellers operating through a US company can talk to us about their options.
