Restaurant Insurance Checklist
Bring together the details of your kitchen, dining service and off-premises work before discussing insurance.
Online quotes depend on eligibility and underwriting.
Let’s talk insurance.
Describe how food reaches the customer
- List dine-in, takeaway, delivery, catering and events separately.
- Describe cooking methods and equipment, seating and operating hours.
- Mention alcohol service or sales and any planned changes rather than assuming they are included.
Make a practical property and people list
- Gather the lease’s insurance requirements and identify equipment you own or lease.
- List kitchen equipment, refrigeration and typical stock, including seasonal changes.
- Describe employee roles and payroll estimates, and who performs deliveries.
- Note changes to the premises, capacity or services since the current policy began.
Questions for the insurance discussion
- What should I review for equipment breakdown, spoiled stock and interruption to trading?
- How would off-premises catering or delivery affect the coverage being discussed?
- Which exclusions or separate coverages need attention for the activities I listed?
Keep this list with your business records and update it when your work changes. Your answers give the insurance conversation a concrete starting point; the checklist does not determine which policy you need.
